The aim of The Eel Pie Club is to preserve and continue the heritage of Richmond Rhythm & Blues in the area where it all began in the 1960's - Eel Pie Island, The Crawdaddy Club, The Station Hotel, The Richmond Athletic Ground, The Imperial and L'Auberge were just some of the famous venues that made R & B world famous and whose new young talent (including The Rolling Stones, The Yardbirds, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Rod Stewart) began their rise to world fame.

The Eel Pie Club supports various charities, including The Duchenne Children's Trust (for Muscular Dystrophy), Prostate Cancer UK and The Princess Alice Hospice.

The Club, which was the brainwave of musician, Tom Nolan, and promoters of the Richmond Rhythm & Blues concerts since 1998, Gina Way and Warren Walters, opened in April 2000 at The Room Above The Fox pub in Twickenham.  It soon outgrew the premises and in June 2000 moved to a larger venue at The Cabbage Patch.

The Club has become a regular haunt for musicians and music lovers alike and has a membership of nearly 900.  Guests and featured musicians have included Mick Avory of the Kinks, Long John Baldry, Dave Berry, Guy Fletcher (Dire Straits), Gary Grainger (ex Rod Stewart Band, Kenney Jones Band), Don Craine and Keith Grant of The Downliners Sect, Peter French (Leaf Hound, ex Atomic Rooster and Cactus), Dennis Greaves (Nine Below Zero), Mick Green (The Pirates), Steve Hackett of Genesis, John Idan of the Yardbirds, Dave Lennox (Blodwyn Pig), Ray Majors (ex Yardbirds and Mott the Hoople), Phil May (The Pretty Things), Billy Boy Miskimmin (The Yardbirds), Micky Moody (Whitesnake), John O'Leary (Savoy Brown), Rick Parfitt, Jim Rodford (The Zombies, ex Kinks), Dick Taylor (The Pretty Things), Top Topham (ex Yardbirds), Geno Washington, the late Art Wood, Jesse Wood, Leah Wood, and Ronnie Wood.

The Club also organises concerts at larger venues, including The Pretty Things plus The World of Arthur Brown, The Yardbirds, Georgie Fame, The Eel Pie All-Stars, Leaf Hound, The Geno Washington Band, and Nine Below Zero.  The Eel Pie Club were the  organisers of The Carlo Little Night of Honour and ART - A Tribute to Art Wood and Celebration of his Life.
